New employment legislation

New employment legislation in force from 6th April 2010

This includes: additional paternity rights for fathers if taken in lieu of part of the mother's entitlement, applicable to children due/matched on or after 3rd April 2011;  the new system of 'fit notes' to replace sick notes (good riddance);  rights for employees to request time off for study or training;  changes to the Employment Tribunal rules to enable Tribunals to pass public interest disclosure information to regulators with claimants' permission;   and the changes to contingency fee agreements through the Damages-Based Agreements Regulations 2010.
