Rebecca Wastall is a specialist in criminal law who was called to the Bar in 2002 after receiving a scholarship by Lincoln's Inn. After pupillage Rebecca started her career as in-house counsel at a local firm of solicitors but joined Chambers in 2007. Her work covers both the Crown and Magistrates Courts alongside regular work within the prison system, conducting adjudications and matters of parole.
Rebecca is frequently instructed by local Councils, the DVLA, and RSPCA to prosecute in both courts alongside prosecution and defence work from the more traditional solicitor route.
Rebecca has a keen interest in Mental Health Law within the criminal context and has defended several serious arson, Grevious Bodily Harm and bomb hoax cases where, ultimately, restricted hospital orders have been made.
Outside of court Rebecca is frequently instructed by Norfolk Police to advise and write opinions on Privileged and Special Procedure material. These cases often involve multi-million pound drug importation offences.
Cases of note: R v Santana (group rape) and R v Barnes (arson)
