Claire Watson LL B
Following graduation Claire was employed by solicitors in Torquay and then Reading in pursuit of her interest in family law.
In 1989 she joined the CPS, initially in the magistrates section in Reading, but was quickly promoted to the Fraud Investigation Group at CPS HQ in London – covering higher-end white collar fraud. Following successful completion of pupillage she returned to branch as a Crown Prosecutor, initially at Camberwell Green in South London, where she encountered the whole range of criminal activity from minor driving offences to murder. She moved to Birmingham for a year and returned to London as a Senior Crown Prosecutor at Wood Green, where she specialised in sex crimes and fraud (now the more grubby blue collar variety).
Claire left the CPS in September 1997 to pursue a career at the independent Bar. Whilst a member of 3 Temple Gardens she maintained a criminal practice whilst also building a reputation as a family practitioner. In addition to the usual CPS prosecutions Claire also has extensive experience of DWP prosecutions and Local Authority prosecutions for offences as diverse as poisoning under the Food Safety Act and allowing an unlawful erection.
Since joining East Anglian Chambers in February 2003 she has maintained her interest in both criminal and family law.
