Nicholas Elcombe LL B (APU)


Nick's practice now predominantly encompasses all areas of family law.

He represents parents, local authorities and guardians in Public Law Children Act cases. He has experience of cases involving sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and mental health issues at all levels. He has been involved in High Court hearings following on from operation Orr. Nick has acted for a parent in seeking to prevent a local authority placing a child abroad for adoption.

Nick also has experience of international child custody disputes involving both Hague Convention and non Hague Convention countries. These have involved both temporary and permanent removal of children from England.

In private law Children Act proceedings Nick has acted in a wide variety of cases involving mental health issues as well as substance abuse. He has also dealt with cases involving allegations of serious violence including rape. Nick has recently acted for maternal grandparent against a father with residence of the two children who both suffered from Aspergers syndrome.

Nick's experience in financial aspects of family and quasi family work includes ancillary relief, Inheritance Act and Trusts of Land cases. He has experience of high capital "farming" cases. He was recently involved in the intervention by the CPS in ancillary relief proceedings before the High Court.

Interests:

Nick's interests away from work centre on family life on a small livestock farm.  He also has experience as a school governor and as a trustee of charities.
