Richard O'Sullivan BA (York)


Richard is a member of  our Family team and covers all aspects of family work. He has a particular expertise in care proceedings regularly acting for parents, Local Authorities, children and other family members at all levels, being equally at home in the High Court, County Court and the Family Proceedings Court  He has acted in large, complex and ‘high cost’ cases and has considerable experience of dealing with cases of suspected osteogenesis imperfecta ('brittle bone disease'), sexual abuse, shaken baby syndrome, fabricated illness, parental addiction, personality disorders, neglect and multiple NAI.

Richard has also established a significant ancillary relief practice and is regularly asked to advise on potential ToLATA applications. He has gained a reputation as being an effective communicator, particularly when acting for vulnerable clients, and can always be relied upon to give firm and fair advice.

Before coming to the Bar Richard spent three years working as a parliamentary research assistant. Having completed his studies he joined East Anglian Chambers, where he completed his pupillage, in 2000.

Interests:

Richard and his wife Lynette recently moved from Norwich to Ipswich with their three young children. Richard's interests outside of work include cooking, falconry, cinema and his recently renovated garden pond.
