Marcus enjoys a mixed practice of crime and civil.
He appears in the Crown Court and Magistrates' Courts across East Anglia and London acting in cases involving all types of criminal offence. He also continues to gain more experience in proceedings under POCA 2002 both on conviction and under the provisions that allow for civil recovery. Furthermore Marcus undertakes defence Courts Martial work at both full Courts Martial level and Summary Appeals.
Marcus accepts instructions in a variety of personal injury and road traffic accident claims for written advice and/or representation from small claims to mulit-track matters. He also undertakes work providing advice in contentious probate matters and in particular claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975.
R v Zdanov & Others: Acted as Junior Counsel for the first Defendant on the indictment in a five-week trial for an offence of conspiracy to defraud international clearing banks involving large quantities of counterfeit credit cards.
R v Wilson: Successfully defended serving prisoner accused of causing ABH to prison officers.
Prior to starting at East Anglian Chambers in 2004, Marcus worked for Russell, Jones and Walker as a paralegal dealing with offences of rape, violence and serious fraud. Significant cases include large-scale white-collar crime including multi-million pound VAT "carousel" frauds and evasion of import duty on cigarettes.
